Always a first time...

Last night the Oscars were on. I've never watched them. Bobbi and Jayme came out with some friends and watched. I mostly laughed really hard at all their comments. We used the list from the Herald, that Erin Swaney drew the Oscar for, and had a contest on who could pick the most winners. Bobbi won.

A day with the boys...

Hudson and Boden hung out at my house yesterday.
Hudson gathered the eggs that my chickens are finally starting to lay. They played outside with the little tractor, fed the horses and chickens, sat by a cozy fire and later, watched a movie with Ashley when she came out.

On wings like eagles...

Yesterday I looked out at the pond and there on the ice was an eagle trying to get a dead goose out of the ice. I grabbed my camera and telephoto lens and quietly stepped out on the deck. I was able to snap a few pictures before it flew away but now I wish I would have just watched from inside the house because it was quite a sight. He sensed me as soon as I stepped out so I only got 1 blurry, hurried shot of him on the pond and then two as he soared away. I must say, it was majestic.

If you live in a place where you see them often, then perhaps it is hard to understand how exciting this was for me, but, I just still can't believe he was on our pond and soaring around our house.

Had a snowstorm last night-

I couldn't get out of my driveway to get in to work so I had a day home. I took a few snowy day photos. And made a cake for the 1st anniversary of Salon Plush.
Some hunters were given permission to hunt the pond because the goose population has been out of control.

I made cookies!

The miracle here is that I finally feel good enough to do this! But I just had to show these, they make me smile!

Dog, Dog, Geese...

I thought they flew south, the geese that is. But apparently we are south enough. Mae and Oliver will, at the skitter of a mouse across the lawn or silent hop of a bunny, go charging out instantly, barking their heads off to rid our lawn of the creature. But 600 geese can be honking and raising a racket on the same lawn and it doesn't even phase them. They just watch me act like a fool chasing them off...maybe they aren't so dumb...I think they are laughing at me...

A jolly Snowman

It's been ages since there's been a snowman on my yard. But the kids were out this week and built a great one.
