June 2016

June 1 and the kids woke up early and wanted to swim so out we went.
This kid can hold his breath for so long it starts to make me panic. What a couple of fish. Hudson didn't want to swim so he was playing with Oliver.
Amiah made me a book that I absolutely love. Drawings of a lot of the things we have done together.
Such wisdom from a 12 year old. I love her.

After I took the kids home it was evident that the packing wasn't close enough for them to leave so I took them to Runza for lunch (because Kansas City doesn't have Runza) so of course we had to take a Runza picture
I finally tore the bandaid off, left them with their parents and cried all the way home...just one more pain to deal with.
June 3 My friend Kim, brought lunch over and spent the day with me, floating in the pool, sitting in Letti's Garden and just being here to talk and listen and make me laugh as only she can. She was just what I needed that day.
It was also Poppy's 3rd birthday but as she was with her mom we did not celebrate as a family yet.
June 4 Bobbi, Travis, Ashley and Travis' sister, brother-in-law and their 2 boys came out to swim.
Wyatt just lounged there on Bobbi's arms.
June 7 Poppy wanted to spend the night so Trey brought her out and they hung out and swam and she and I did so stuff together.

We went for a ride in the EZ-GO and the caltulpa tree was in bloom so we picked some of those beautiful flowers.
We went out in Grandpa Bryan's boat. And he caught a fish and she wasn't super impressed...

Then Bryan and Trey went out and about for a bit so she painted some pictures.
The next morning Trey mowed and Poppy drove the tractor around. It was pretty cute.
Then she fed the chickens and basically did chores. 😀
June 15 Bobbi asked me to help her put in a garden next to the patio that Bryan and Travis had poured a couple weeks earlier. So we went to get plants, mulch, dirt you name it we got it. It was such a hot day but fortunately we were in the shade most of the day. Bryan had built some raised beds out of leftover pool deck materials so we put those in and filled them with flowers.

It was a long hot day of hard work but we loved the end result!
The sunset that night was so beautiful. We went out fishing and watched it.
My neighbor actually took this picture of our house while he was out fishing.
June 17 we took our annual trek over to Walnut, IA and their big Fatherr's Day Weekend Antique Show. Ashley went with us. It was a fun time but soooo hot!!

We did see Sasquath the next day...apparently he likes antiques too.

June 19 Father's Day and we went to the zoo with Ashley, Jayme, Trey, Poppy and Trey's two sisters and his brother to celebrate Poppy's birthday.

This was her "zoo face"...

I must take a moment here to say that we went on the Zoofari ride (A ski lift type ride over the zoo) Poppy wanted to ride with me...I hate those things. High up. Swaying. No seat belts. HIGH UP! I was terrified but I did it for her. I think the bruise from my death grip on her has gone away...just kidding she didn't bruise. I did have a death grip on her.
It was a very fun day. When we got home we had a bbq and ate her cake that I had made her.
She had requested a gold cake with Kylo Ren ( a Star Wars character) on it.

On Monday, June 20 I was really having a sad day of missing what we never got to experience with Letti and missing the kids. In the midst of that I got a call from Andrea saying that the kids were coming through Lincoln on their way to the farm. Their Grandpa Bill had some stuff he needed to do in town so I meet them at Holmes Lake and we could hang out in the park for an hour. It was so good to see them. Just what my heart needed.
I took snacks. They were thrilled.
Hudson always calls Mug Rootbeer "Rootbeer Mug" and it always causes his sister to roll her eyes! He loves Rootbeer Mug!
We played a game of Yardzee that I had given to Amiah. The time went all to quickly.
Their Grandpa came and got them and I was reminded again how much I miss them. And on that day when I got home we had a little rain and there was a rainbow over Letti's Garden. It was like she knew I needed to see that that day.

June 26 my trumpet vine was suddenly blooming and so beautiful!
During the months of April, May and June I was also busy with Esprit and getting ready for tour in July. The dress rehearsals were June 29 and 30 long late nights! So June ended in a flurry of activity.
